Overview:

Connecting to the animal kingdom reveals the traits we share by expressing them visually. What can animals teach us about being human?

Materials:

• 1 sheet of Bristol paper
•
Oil sticks and or acrylic paints

Sketchbook Reflection:

• Start by writing 10 characteristics of your best self (i.e. strong, free, brave, gentle, loving…)

Process:

• Think about animals that share some of these traits. Allow one animal to come to the forefront of your awareness.
• Alternatively, draw your companion animal.
•
Bring the animal's spirit to life on the page, using whatever tools feel right. Optionally, use print outs of your animal, and draw/paint on top of them, or make a collage.
•
Express the feeling of the animal. Think of the way it moves, sounds, and exists within it's environment.
