Overview:

Designed to improve your hand-eye coordination, this exercise helps you really see and observe your subject.

Materials:

• Bristol paper
• 
Oil pastels or colored pencil

Transcript

 

Process:

• Place your pencil to the paper and fix your eye on the subject.
• Then, move you eyes slowly along the contour of the subject, and without looking a the paper, slowly draw the contour of the subject.
• O
nly glance at the paper to locate a new starting point.
• Repeat as desired with a new object.

Sketchbook Reflection:

• Return to this exercise often to warm up. Randomly pick the closest object to you as a challenge.
• Try using your other hand as the subject.
