About:

This exercise helps let go of "right and wrong," by showing that there are no mistakes.

Materials:

• Bristol paper
•
Oil pastels, pens, or marker

Transcript

Process:

• Holding your drawing tool in your hand, quickly and without thought, “make a mistake” on a blank sheet of paper.
•
Scribble or scratch, use your non-dominant hand, or let your hand just “mess up” the paper with a couple of quick, thoughtless marks.
•
Relax, then respond with light-heartedness. Keeping your sense of humor and play, respond to the “mistake” with new marks. Let it grow into something new.
• More "mistake" ideas: Rip the paper. Spill something on the paper. Poke holes in the paper. Crumble up the paper.

Sketchbook Reflection:

• What was a big “mistake” in your life?
•
How did it help you grow?
•
In your heart, thank it, and let it go.
