Overview:

This exercise is about noticing the forms and ideas we’re drawn to, and mining those interests for artistic gold.

Materials:

• Camera phone
• Sketchbook

Process:

• Scroll through the current photos on your phone. What have you been taking a lot of photos of? What stands out and why?
•
Then, take a walk and take new pictures, mindful of the patterns, lines, shapes, colors, and forms that you find visually interesting. What draws your eye?
•
Create a drawing based on your favorite photo.

Sketchbook Reflection:

• Jot down some notes about your favorite photo subjects, and why you’re drawn to them.
