I've always had a thing for polar bears. I did a report on our friendly neighborhood polar bear at the Madison Zoo when I was a kid. Within that next year, he was shot dead because some lunatic jumped into the enclosure. This hit me hard and was one of my first experiences with the deep injustice toward animals. These regal creatures deserve better. So I honor them with this portrait.
