This piece came to me while listening to Joseph Campbell's "The Power of Myth," in which he explains about the many faces of God, and our personification of various energies. This mask is based on the Buddha, or "the Awakened One," who never claimed to be divine, but who embodied the transcendence of self. The colors are based on a visual meditation I learned at a Dzogchen (Tibetan shamanism) retreat.
